Who are we at Calverton's Upper School?
We at Calverton's Upper School are committed to creating a dynamic learning environment in which every student is provided with an avenue for success. Our faculty members are committed educators who extend themselves to students in every way. Classroom activity is varied and exciting; advisors monitor students' personal growth; and parents are kept up-to-date on the progress of their children. Not only do we educate our students, we celebrate their talents and achievements in our community. Every student is recognized and valued for their unique contributions to classroom and community.
An Atmosphere of Respect
At Calverton, students respect teachers, teachers respect students, and students respect each other. Though the students have a written code of honor—that they devised themselves—they do not need it. From year to year, our seniors impart that philosophy on younger students through their words and, above all, their actions. Because Calverton students value their education, they work hard to create an atmosphere in which they can gain the most from their teachers and from each other. Respect creates comfort, trust, and an ideal learning environment.
Excellence Has No Boundaries
In an atmosphere of respect, Calverton students feel comfortable taking risks. Athletes pursue the arts and artists participate in athletics; students who excel in the humanities take AP science courses, and scientists are encouraged to write about their experiences and share them in public forums. At Calverton, students are never classified—by teachers or by their peers—as any "type." We believe that excellence has no boundaries and that all students have equal potential to achieve at a heightened level.
