The Calverton School has both five-day and seven-day residential opportunities for students.

Calverton teachers take a personal interest in each student and help them adjust to  residential life on campus. Our teachers are focused on continuous growth and superior education. Each student is assigned an advisor, in addition to their college counselor and the Head of the Upper School, who identifies individual student strengths and  opportunities for growth.   

Our international students are also provided with unique off-campus opportunities, such as a trips to Washington DC, Philadelphia, and New York. Students attend events at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and professional sporting events such as DC United, MLB Orioles, and NBA Wizards games.  

With the help of a college counseling process that begins as early as Grade 9, students from Calverton are accepted at prestigious colleges and universities in the United States

Support & Guidance
Through a combination of informal and formal structure and guidance, new residential students quickly establish
friendships that span the globe, and last a lifetime. Even before school starts, our residential students participate in activities to help them make friends and adapt quickly to their new environment. Under the direct supervision of the Boarding Director, our
House Parents live alongside the students to ensure their comfort and well being. At all times our staff is available to offer students any advice and support they need, be it academic or personal.

Security & Supervision
The safety of our students is a primary concern and something we take extremely seriously. Our campus employs both active and passive security measures. The Calverton School is patrolled by at least one security officer as well as surveillance cameras.

Activities
We provide a wide variety of extracurricular and social activities so that every student has the opportunity to make friends and pursue personal interests.On school days, our boarding students take part in their preferred sport or activity, taking advantage of Calverton’s fine arts, clubs/societies and/or athletic programs, which  include the following sports: 

  • Soccer (girls and boys)

  • Cheerleading 
  • Cross Country (co-ed)    
  • Golf (co-ed)
  • Basketball (girls and boys)    
  • Lacrosse  (girls and boys)    
  • Tennis  (co-ed)  

Weekend programs include exciting off-campus adventures that change in line with our students’ interests. Trips include visits to Georgetown, Washington DC, Baltimore and Annapolis. 

Meals 
Meals are provided for all boarding students. Boarding students have dinner together,  family-style, with either the Boarding Director, House Parent or a faculty guest. On weekends, dinner is generally on-campus. We accommodate a wide range of dietary needs and requirements, and we also provide  opportunities for our boarding students to dine out occasionally as part of regularly-scheduled social  activities. 

Accommodations
Residences at The Calverton School are located on  campus in our One World Residential Village, designed to provide a home away from home with its traditional architecture and design.  

Each home has a House Parent who lives with the  students, helping them in their daily routines. Rooms are modern, comfortable and generally shared with one other student.  Additionally, other amenities include:
