Welcome from the Head of School

Welcome to The Calverton School, a community where students are known, valued, and challenged to discover what is possible.

At Calverton, our mission calls us to lead with empathy and honor, build connection through inquiry, and embrace challenge as opportunity. These are more than words. They shape how our students learn, how our teachers teach, and how we come together as a community.

Our strong academics, small class sizes, and dedicated teachers create an environment where students are deeply known and supported as individuals. We believe children learn best when they are surrounded by caring adults who recognize their strengths, encourage their curiosity, and challenge them to grow. Here, students develop the confidence to ask meaningful questions, take intellectual risks, and discover talents and passions that bring them joy.

Across our beautiful 153-acre campus, learning extends far beyond the classroom. Students have opportunities to explore, create, compete, perform, serve, and lead. With the Chesapeake Bay region as our extended classroom and a community that reaches across five counties and around the world, Calverton students learn to connect their experiences to something larger than themselves.

Our student-written Philosophy of Honor is woven into daily life at Calverton and reinforces a culture grounded in integrity, empathy, respect, and personal responsibility. That foundation of character is paired with an ambitious academic program, including the only Upper School International Baccalaureate program in Calvert County, preparing students not simply for college, but to contribute with purpose in an increasingly interconnected world.

Most importantly, Calverton is a place of belonging and possibility. We want every student to be known for who they are today, challenged to imagine who they can become, and empowered to make a meaningful difference in their community and beyond.

I invite you to visit our campus, meet our students and teachers, and experience the relationships that make Calverton such a special place. We look forward to welcoming you and your family.

Gratefully,
