  • I was blessed to apply to The Calverton School for high school. I was raised in a family with a modest income, and without the assistance of a scholarship that was offered to me at the time, I would not have been able to attend. As I walked through the doors on my first day in 9th grade, I did not know what exactly to expect. Public school had always been easy to me. As I sat down in my first class, I listened and learned; and I was truly blown away by the rigorous academics that challenged me that day, and every day thereafter. I was also overwhelmed by the strong sense of community and family of which I had become a part. Since graduation, the years have flown by, but I have always held Calverton near to my heart. I have remained close to friends and faculty, and I have felt a true sense of dedication to making sure the school continues to succeed.

  • Calverton taught me to chase any opportunity I set my sights on with resilience and grace. I learned to be proud of who I was, both as a learner and a human being in any community I decided to join while still at Calverton or beyond into my college and personal endeavors. Now as an educator, I am so thankful for the privilege of learning and growing alongside fellow classmates and teachers I viewed as family, who not only helped me develop skills in the academic realm, but also encouraged the growth of character traits, such as empathy, determination, and honesty. By attending this school I called home, I valued the significance of a close community at an early age, and understood the important roles coaches, teachers, mentors, and friends played in motivating individuals to reach their goals.

Calverton has prepared me tremendously for college and ultimately my career and passions in coaching. During my time at Calverton, I honestly believe that was when I developed good time management skills. As many times and ways as it has been said, having good time management is one of the most important things for college, my job, and everyday life. Learning that skill at Calverton and being able to balance eight IB classes, sports, a social life, all while trying to get enough sleep was what allowed me in college to maximize my free time and use that to pick up extra classes, graduate early, all while staying a student-athlete.

  • Having spent 13 years at Calverton, I can say with confidence that the faculty, staff, and advisors have supported me through every step of my academic career. They provided me with a foundation of nurturing, support, and guidance that I will carry with me through college and medical school.

The IB Diploma program prepared me for a rigorous academic curriculum and showed me how to be intellectually curious about my own education.

The genuine friendships that I have made at Calverton will last for a lifetime...Calverton is and will always be my first home.

If I did not attend Calverton, I am not sure if I would have the appropriate foundation I have built for years in mentoring various groups of the youth population.  In addition, I am not sure if I would have had access to a Model United Nations Club to build upon my unlimited and wholehearted passion for humanitarian work and contribution to United Nations related matters.
