Tennis

Hosted on Calverton’s own six-court tennis complex, this camp will be a wonderful experience for the beginner, as well as the experienced tennis player. Campers will work through all aspects of the game and will learn or improve in the following areas: serves, volleys, backhand management, and game strategy. Come join us and develop your skills as a tennis player!

Horseback Riding Camp

Travel with our camp counselor to and from Canaan Farms where you will have a professional horseback riding lesson, learn about horse grooming and care, and observe onsite demonstrations from a competitive rider.  Lead instructor is available to speak with camp families about camper's riding history and experiences to tailor individual lessons.  Instructors have thorough and safe plans in place for all levels of experience.

Soccer

This camp focuses on dribbling, passing, shooting, and ball control through fun soccer skills curriculum focusing on individual fundamental skills (dribbling in 1v1s, passing, receiving, & shooting) and game play.  By the end of the camp, your child will have learned new life skills such as teamwork and sportsmanship, made new friends, and improved their soccer skills.

Cougar Strong

The cougar strong summer camp will pit camper against camper in various strongman/athletics-based competitions. Each of the two weeks will have a different theme; week one will focus on endurance, week two on strength. Winners of the competitions will have their names engraved on the cougar strong plaque, to be placed in the Calverton gym for all time. Aside from the competition, campers will also learn about safe gym practices and general fitness education. Campers will learn about nutrition, hydration, gym prep, sleep schedules, physical care, and more as they participate in Cougar strong, giving campers the tools they need to continue their physical education on their own.

This course will serve to prepare students for their upcoming English Language and Literature courses, as well as fill any desired gaps in knowledge when it comes to grammar, style, and writing.

Create a Game Camp

Is your child creative? Loves to invent new games? This camp is for you! During this camp we will learn about the different types of games (card games, board games, dice games) and how games are played (rules, game pieces, amount of players). As a group, the kids will pick a game style, decide on rules, design the game, and by the end of the week they will have a prototype game they can play and show their parents. If successful, replicas will be made for each student to take home by the end of summer (more information to come)

School of Rock Percussion Camp

Percussion camp provides campers with opportunities to learn and strengthen their musical skills, and apply them to instruments like bucket drums, boomwhackers, mallets, and more! Boys Lacrosse

Come join Coach Peter Kerwin for a memorable week of lacrosse!  Coach Kerwin won The Southern Maryland Athletic Conference Lacrosse Coach of the Year in 2011 and 2015, and has been coaching Boys Varsity Lacrosse at Huntingtown High School since 2011.  Do not miss this opportunity to learn from the best!
 
Campers will be playing field lacrosse on our synthetic turf as well as indoor lacrosse in our air conditioned gym.  Campers will be doing everything from basic fundamentals to game strategy and X's and O's.  Players will need to bring their own helmet, gloves, arm pads, mouth guard, cleats, and shoes (for indoor). In addition, each camper should bring his own water each day.

The great outdoors! Each day we will head outside and explore nature. Each day will be dedicated to a different topic, so each day is new and exciting! Bugs, plants, birds, animals, rocks...it's all things we can explore and learn about. Please bring a water bottle, clothes that can get dirty and wear bug spray!
